One thought on “[God Emperor of Dune] [by: Frank Herbert]

  1. La premi re trilogie de Dune tait bien construite, plut t bien emmen e et posait les bases d un univers tr s int ressant Dune, Dune messiah, Children of Dune Ce quatri me tome tartine le concept de mani re vraiment exag r e C est long, ennuyeux, r p titif, et franchement a a mal vieilli Le c t psych d lo 70 s est pouss jusqu la caricature On peut s arr ter Children of Dune sans souci.

  4. This is the transition between the original Dune trilogy Dune, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune and the second trilogy that started with Heretics and Chapterhouse Dune It is written differently from the action oriented first books, making it a philosophically oriented what if book What if there was a benevolent absolute dictator that forced peace and calm upon all of humanity for 4000 years Frank Herbert says that people innately long for conflict and that we would look at peace differently a [...]

  5. This was the most challenging yet rewarding book in the series Lots of subtleties and deeper concepts The development of the god emperor, Duncan, and Hwi were spectacular as well as other characters Overall it has a different feel than the previous book It s one of the books you need to re read to catch everything.

  6. The later books in the Dune series have a bad rep This book is bizarre for sure, but somehow Herbert convinced me to empathize with a 3500 year old worm human hybrid that can see the future, which I consider to be an impressive feat of writing.

  7. Set 3500 years after the previous book, GEoD focuses squarely on Leto II as he follows the Golden Path.It is over loaded with philosophy that is, I think, supposed to justify Leto s actions toward humanity I think judicious editing could have stopped some over use of the same ideas However, it is not overly detrimental to the book.My real issue with the GEoD is the glacial pacing and lack of big payoffs for the reader Again, harsher editing could have helped.I have mixed feelings about the book [...]

  8. This is the best of the series in my opinion Frank Herbert was a master at weaving esoteric political social environmental truth into the conversations of his characters I loved looking at all the issues and actions through the lenses of Duncan, Leto, Siona, and all of the other differently motivated subjugated people groups I will probably read this again.
